Discovered by Captain James Cook in 1770, 49 days after Easter (Whitsunday).  Seventy-four islands are found in the Coral Sea among the Great Barrier Reef.  Pure-white sands meet cerulean waters with emerald-green hills nearby.  

We rode the shuttle bus around the island to one of the island’s lookout points for panoramic views.  The island only has 4 km of road.  An Australian family, named Oatley, purchased the island in 2003 for $200 million and have put another $600 million into development.   The ferry ride to mainland Australia is thirty minutes.  Several movies and television shows have filmed on this island.  Frequently, the holiday/vacation scenes are/were filmed here.  

I had kangaroo for dinner tonight.  It is a very lean meat and is a lot like eating beef.

If you want to go there, choose your island carefully.  This island has bars, restaurants, cultural exhibitions, performances, water sports, golf and six different levels of accommodation.  The Great Barrier Reef is nearby.
