Phu Dong Percussion Group, 3/18/18

At 6:30, in the Star Theater of the Viking Sun, Phu Dong Percussion Group  performed.  - They are devoted to preserving traditional Vietnamese music.   Zitherist Duc Dau owns more than 200 traditional instruments, many from the northwest and Central Highlands region.  This ethnomusicologist owns flutes, cong chieng (gongs), cymbals, dan bau (single-stringed instrument) and the T”rung organ.  His goal is to preserve Vietnam's traditional instruments and introduce them to the world.  I was exhausted after an 11 hour day in Saigon/Ho Chi Min City, but was glad to experience this unique collection of instruments.

Fascinating.  The woman clapped in front of the bamboo pole to make the sound.

This instrument was like a bamboo xylophone.

This instrument looked like he was hitting turtle shells.
