Day 119 Friday, May 12, 2023 Langkawi, Malaysia 10:00-19:00
It is eight miles from the Star Cruises jetty to Kuah. Tenders could drop you off in the center of town. If you want to hire a taxi, walk to the far end of the pier and negotiate there.
There is a cluster of 99 islands off the coast of the state of Kedah. Beautiful beaches, infrastructure, mangroves, duty-free shopping and legends are all there.
Langkawi’s legend is woven into its history. A beautiful young girl named Mahsuri was involved in a tale of love, jealousy and a curse she placed on the island for seven generations. Today, the citizens of Langkawi believe that the prosperity and blessings on the islands now are not a coincidence. The seventh generation has come and gone long ago, the curse is over.
Tourism is important and many islands are populated by farmers, fishermen and entrepeneurs. A road will take your around the island as you pass views and small villages. A cable car will take you to the summit of Mount Mat Cincang to enjoy the view.
There are many options such as visiting the Field of Burnt Rice, Hot Springs, Rubber plantations, Telaga Tujuh (The Seven Wells) and the Beach of Black Sand. Boat tours are available; mangrove tours, kayaking tours, etc.. Walk in the rain forest. Diving. Golfing.
We took the tender into the port and walked to the end of the peer to spend the day with a taxi driver. He was great and took us to the main tourists sites. We passed many very nice resorts on our ride around the island. We went to see the huge eagle statue and stopped by a temple(?). We traveled on the Kilim River to see animals in their natural habitats. We went through the Bat Cave on a walk way, passed through mangrove, visited the fish farm and fed the eagles while on the river. After that we went to Langkawi Sky Cab (Cable Car) and Skybridge on Mount Machincang for 360 degree views from the elevation of
We were tendered to the shore. This is where we arrived.

Eagles on the river, our third stop after visiting the Bat Cave and the fish farm which was quite interesting. Eagles were attracted by chicken skin which floated on the water.
Boardwalk through the mangroves with a root you have to step over.
Eagles attracted by chicken skin thrown in the river. They use chicken skin because it floats. The operator revs his engine, throws the skin and the eagles come. Sorry I didn't bring my phone to shoot a video, it was amazing.
Manta Ray in the fish farm.

Langkawi Skybridge Cable Car The Langkawi Cable Car, also known as Langkawi SkyCab, is a gondola lift. It is one of the major attractions in Langkawi Island, Kedah, Malaysia. The Cable Car travels 2.2 km and takes about 15 minutes to get to the top. As there is no road to the top due to the steepness of Gunung Machinchang, all the structural components needed to be lifted to top with helicopters in combination with an auxiliary working cable and then assembled on site.
The Base Station is located at the Oriental Village and the Middle Station offers a 45 degree turn to continue to the top. There are two circular viewing platforms at the top of Gunung Machinchang, both are a short walk up stairs from the top station and offer 360° views. The top station is located 708 m (2,323 ft) above sea-level is about 5 °C cooler than the lowlands.
