Cabo San Lucas, Mexica 1/1/18

Cabo San Lucas Sunset by iconic rock formations 1/1/18

Cabo is large, resort city.  Houses cling to the side hills.  Boats in the marina are sorted by size.

Marlin fishing is big in Cabo.  This fish was in the Visitors' Center

4x4 that took us from our Walking Tour to the Camel Ride on the beach.

Camel Ride along the beach.  It took about twenty minutes, ten would have been better.  I could not get comfortable  because of the aluminum frame.  We saw a whale blowing several times in the distance.  The camels are all supposed to be rescues.  They are rescuing nine more camels soon.

I am the back rider.  We had helmets on under our head coverings.  I was thankful that we walked up onto a platform and climbed onto the camel.  I had heard stories about how terrifying it was when the camel had to get up and go down.

We were served an excellent lunch.  Then we taste tested four kinds of Tequila.  The one that was nicknamed "The Baby Make" was the best one.

Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are located on Mexico's Baja California peninsula.  The climate is arid and the average high is 86 and the average low is 63.  The rainiest month is September. These two towns are twenty miles apart and the entire distance between them has hotels/condos everywhere.  Waterfront offers endless hotels/condos.  Combined there are 300,000 inhabitants and in 2011 there were 900,000 hotel guests.  The coast is picturesque with spectacular rock formations.  In port, the yachts and boats are sorted by size.

In the morning, we traveled to Rancho San Cristobal,  We took a scenic and educational nature walk where we learned about desert vegetation.  Next, we rode to the waterfront where we learned about the camels we would be riding.  Our rides along the ocean front was twenty minutes.  We saw a whale blowing several times.  Twenty-minutes was a long ride, as I could not get comfortable due to the metal frame.   Our Mexican lunch included chicken mole, ground beef stew, rice and refried beans, cactus salad, mushroom salad, salsa and tortillas, followed by tequila tasting.  My favorite tequila was Guaycura licor de Domiana, nicknamed "The Baby-Maker".  Our guide demonstrated making a paste from beans by rubbing a rectangular stone on a stone tray to smash and blend the beans to mash which will then be used to make tortillas

We returned to Cabo San Lucas and traveled on El Malecon the twenty miles to San Jose del Cabo.  We walked around the historic area to the Spanish mission founded in 1730, Mission de San Jose.  The church was lovely and we walked around the town square and enjoyed ice cream at an outdoor cafe.
