Go to Bora Bora

This is the French Polynesian Island I imagined.  Beautiful ocean water of many different hues.  Lovely vistas.  Thatched roofs.

FACEBOOK Bora Bora, French Polynesia is the perfect tropical paradise. The average high temperature is 84 and the low is 77.  Average rainfall is 77 inches a year.   Bora Bora is only four miles by two and a half miles.  Very idyllic.  Everything you imagine.  Many beautiful shades of turquoise, crystal-clear water.  Reefs surround the island offering natural protection. Lovely palm-lined shores.  Most beautiful beaches in the world. There is no high/low tide.  Deep forested slopes rise up to Mt. Otemanu at 2,379 feet, an extinct volcano.  Inspiration of Michener's Tales of the South Pacific.  Distinctly French.  A trip around island by car is less than an hour.   Ceremonial Polynesian Temple.   Huts on stilts in water with thatched roofs.  Major tourist destination.  Popular for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Bloody Mary’s Tiki Bar. There was a shoe/sandal check when you came in the door.  Thatched roof.  Open sides.  White sand floor.  Stools from coconut stumps. Good food and drinks.  Two hundred thirty famous people have their names on the walls of fame outside.

Glass Bottom Boat ride to see the underwater world.  Barrier reef.  Magnificent scenery along the way.  Shared interesting information on Bora Bora.   Driver played several songs on the ukelele and sang.  The driver also fed the fish squid as he swam underneath the boat.  We saw many “aquarium-like” fish.

A lovely vacation, but you may need to win the lottery.  I was told it is $1000./night...

At one of our stops we saw a batik demonstration.  We also learned that it is not unusual for a male child to be raised as a female if a family has all boys. This is an accepted practice in their culture.
