10/25 Cape Ferrat and Nice

Day 7 10/25 Tuesday Sightseeing Cape Ferrat & Nice.  Views of the Mediterranean Sea from the cliff of Cape Ferrat.  Located in southeastern France in Saint-Jean-Cape Ferrat.

Tour the Villa Ephrussi, rose-colored villa/mansion built between 1907-1912 by a member of the Rothschild banking family.  The villa overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and is filled with antique furniture, Old Master paintings, sculptures, objets d’art and rare porcelain.  Stroll through the villa’s nine gardens created between 1905-1912.  Each has a different theme:  the largest is the French garden, Spanish (shaded courtyard and fountain), Japanese, Florentine (grand stairway, artificial grotto, and an ephebe of marble), Provencal (native plants), exotic, stone (Lapidary with gargoyles, columns, and other architectural elements), rose  (pink) garden (statue surrounded by columns) and garden of Sevres (porcelain).

Explore Nice’s Old Town on my own.  Feels like a medieval village with curving, narrow streets, labyrinth of streets.  Nive Vielle - charming, traditional buildings and monuments.  The houses are painted beautiful colors and have traditional French windows.
